 Nineteen
teams of four took place in Spofforth Cricket Club's 4th annual Golf Tournament, The Caines Trophy,
on a sunny and warm Sunday 18th April 2010 at Wetherby Golf Club.
The competition, teams of four
with the best two scores counting on each hole and all four on a par
3, was close but eventually won by Kirk Deighton CC Captained by
Richard Ward together with team members Nick Ryder, Mike Young and
Gary Miles.
Following a celebration drink,
or two, and Roast Beef Sunday lunch the winners were presented with
the trophy.
Congratulating Kirk Deighton CC, Steve Gill, Chairman of Spofforth
CC and organiser of the competition reminded all that this is the
first year that a team with no members of Spofforth CC have won the
trophy, a situation the definitely needs to be remedied next year!!
Many thanks to all those who
attended and especially to Wendy Richards, Louise Squires and Sandra
Gill for their hard work in making the day such a success.
