Congratulations to Nigel Kenyon & his team upon their well deserved promotion to Division 4 in 2010. For details of the 2009 1st XI trophy winners please click here.
If
anybody had told me way back in April that we would use 25 players, be runners
up in the league with 100 points and win the Sunday Cup, I would have accepted
it as a job more than well done but questioned if they actually knew anything
about cricket at all!!
During a sometimes fraught season we played 28 games losing only 4! A remarkable effort by all concerned, even more so as i cannot think of any player who during the course of the season has not contributed a game changing or match winning performance.
We may not have had the best players
in the league but we do have a good team spirit and a will to win that has seen
us edge victories, even when we were unable to field our strongest side.
Our balance of youth and experience has been fundamental to our continued
success on the field and although not always able involve Alex, Johnny, Joshua,
James, Stuart, Will and Jamie as much as i would have liked, it is their much
appreciated efforts that have enabled us to have such a successful season.
If 2010 brings as much progress then I am confident that even Division 4 will
hold fewer problems than we could otherwise expect.
Congratulations and thanks to everybody that contributed to our success.
