From the Chairman of Junior Cricket

There have been some very real improvements in team performances throughout last season and all players, coaches and team managers are to be congratulated.  The younger teams have been particularly impressive showing that we have a real depth of talent for future years to come.  Our young U15's side have some very talented Cricketers and a great team spirit and will i am sure continue to develop next season.  Well done all!

Friday evening coaching sessions have been well attended and dry, losing only one this year to rain.  Many thanks to Ross Atkinson and our team of coaches who have worked so hard from Winter Nets in February through to the end of the junior Cricket season in July.  Thanks also to all those Mums and Dads who have helped by staffing the Tuck Shop and to Darren Kavanagh who has kept all the spectators thirst free!

Many thanks to those who have worked so hard behind the scenes allowing us all the freedom to enjoy our Cricket, particularly to Howard "Griff" Griffiths, Junior Cricket Co-ordinator and Andrew Craven, Child Welfare Officer both of whom will be leaving their roles this season.  A warm welcome to Rachael Bateman as Junior Cricket & Volunteer Co-ordinator and Lucas Bateman as Child Welfare Officer.

On behalf of the Junior Membership many thanks to all the Team Managers this year, win or lose we are always very proud to see that Spofforth play both competitive Cricket and uphold the spirit of the game. Finally to all those of you who have helped our Junior Section in whatever way throughout the 2010 season my most sincere thanks. Volunteers are the lifeblood of our club without whom none of the above would be possible. I hope that you’ve had as much fun as I have seeing our young cricketers enjoy their Cricket and develop their skills and that you’ll join us next year to continue the progress of both our club and Juniors.

Chairman of Junior Cricket
